Jak podaje „Puls Biznesu”, od 1 marca resort infrastruktury wdraża procedury dotyczące zwiększenia udziału PLL LOT i White Eagle Aviation w przewozach czarterowych, m.in. do Turcji, Egiptu, Tunezji i Cypru. Od 8 marca zagraniczni przewoźnicy mogą operować na tych połączeniach, ale tylko za zgodą krajowych przewoźników, czyli PLL LOT i WEA.

Od końca sierpnia ubiegłego roku właścicielem 29,3 proc. akcji prywatnych linii lotniczych White Eagle Aviation, założonych przez Zbigniewa Niemczyka, jest grupa turystyczna Preussag, reprezentowana przez Hapag Lloyd. Preussag jest nie tylko współwłaścicielem WEA, ale również TUI i Scan Holiday, biur turystycznych (działających również na zasadzie franchisingu) obecnych w Polsce, które korzystają z czarterów linii.

Rada Naczelna Polskiej Izby uważa, że administracyjna decyzja ograniczania dostępu obcych przewoźników do polskiego rynku czarterowego będzie miała negatywne skutki dla polskiego systemu turystycznego.
